Religious policing: how religion and level of religiosity shape officer’s interaction with minority groups

Abstract Like other Western nations, policing in Australia is considered a secular practice. Whilst meant to be free from the influence of religious ideals and doctrine, it unknown whether Australian police officers are influenced by social practices, morals, beliefs, cultural laws fortified ideologies. Arguably beliefs may officers’ adherence retributive prejudice towards certain groups, intergroup anxiety, but research examining this missing extant literature. As such, study determines how identity individual level religiosity (religious belief, knowledge, experience, practice, consequence) shape people minority groups during police–citizen interaction.
